On the afternoon of December 7, 2021, Professor Shao Zhenhua from the State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, Sichuan University, was invited to deliver an online report to the teachers and students.
Professor Shao Zhenhua is a recipient of the National Overseas High-level Talents Program, and has been actively engaged research on molecular pharmacology of disease-targeted G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR). He has published research results as the corresponding author/first author in high-level international academic journals including Cell, Nature, Nature Chemical Biology, Cell Research, and Nature Communications.
The title of the report was "Mechanism of action of G protein-coupled receptors and allosteric modulators". In the report, Professor Shao explained the process of GPCR-mediated signal transduction and its key role in physiology and pathology, and introduced in detail the research results from his research group on the mechanism of action of various GPCR allosteric regulatory drugs using multidisciplinary approaches such as pharmacology, structural biology and cell biology. GPCRs studied by his group include cannabis receptors, lipid receptors, dopamine receptors and other physiologically important receptors.
After the presentation, the teachers and students enjoyed an in-depth and animated discussion with Professor Shao.
