On the morning of October 18, 2021, the State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology held the Boling Life Science Forum in the conference hall and invited Professor Zhai Hongbin from Beijing University Shenzhen Graduate School, who is mainly engaged in the total synthesis of natural products with complex structures and important biological activities. The forum was moderated by Professor Lu Zhaoyong from the State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology.

The report title was "Total synthesis of several polycyclic natural products". Professor Zhai talked about the total synthesis of several complex polycyclic natural products including mannolide C, harringtonolide and absinthin using vigorous and humorous language, and explained in detail how to overcome difficulties encountered during research. Professor Zhai encouraged young students to treat their research field with an optimistic attitude. The teachers and students actively asked questions and Professor Zhai answered them enthusiastically. After the meeting, Professor Zhai took a group photo with several teachers and students of the Laboratory.
