On November 23, 2021, Professor Wu Beili of the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences was invited to attend the Boling Life Science Forum and deliver an online academic report entitled "Research on the functional regulation mechanism of metabolic glutamate receptor" for teachers and students of Nankai University.

In the report, Professor Wu Beili introduced her research group’s latest developments on the structure and function of the G protein-coupled receptor C family. By analyzing a variety of human metabotropic glutamate receptors in different activation states and different dimerization forms, as well as the three-dimensional structure of the complex with the downstream G protein, they fully explained the fine conformational changes of metabotropic glutamate receptors from the inactive to fully activated state and revealed the complex signal transduction modes of its homodimers and heterodimers. These achievements provide key information for in-depth understanding of the activation mechanism of the G protein-coupled receptor C family.

More than 100 teachers and students from the State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology, College of Life Sciences, and College of Pharmacy attended the forum. After the report, the teachers and students had a lively and in-depth academic discussion with Wu Beili.
